Alpha Youth is a series of interactive sessions where young people explore life's big questions together. Each session includes a short video that presents a Christian perspective on topics such as identity, purpose, relationships, hope, forgiveness and Jesus, followed by open discussion in small groups.
Alpha Youth is designed to create a safe environment where everyone can ask questions, share opinions and think critically about different perspectives. There is no expectation that participants already have faith, and everyone is welcome.
Every session follows a simple format:
Students are never required to speak if they don't want to.
Across the series, students explore questions including:
Each topic encourages thoughtful discussion while presenting the Christian perspective in an accessible way.
Alpha Youth is typically led by young people, trained volunteers, youth leaders, school chaplains or members of school staff. Leaders facilitate discussion rather than lecture, helping create a welcoming environment where every student feels heard.
Alpha Youth is designed for secondary school-aged young people (11-17 years old), with content adapted to be engaging, accessible and relevant for teenagers.
The Alpha Youth Series: Schools Edition has been specifically adapted for use in schools, with episodes designed to fit lunch clubs, chaplaincy sessions and other school contexts. It maintains the same emphasis on respectful conversation, voluntary participation and thoughtful exploration.
Not at all. Alpha Youth is designed for everyone, whether someone identifies as Christian, follows another faith, or has no religious belief at all. Many young people attend simply because they're curious or enjoy discussing life's bigger questions.
The videos present the Christian understanding of each topic, but discussion is intentionally open. Students are encouraged to think for themselves, ask questions and respectfully engage with different viewpoints. There are no "right answers" expected during the conversations.
No, Alpha Youth is completely free for students to attend.
